Ron Baalke announces that five meteorites will approach Earth 5 in the next period
Baalke, working at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena (NASA), has posted on his Twitter account a list of the 5 cosmic objects that will come close to our planet in the nearly future.
The first asteroid is called Object 2017 BS5, it has a diameter of 40-90 meters and will approach on July 23, but the most dangerous is Object 2012 TC4, which will to near Earth on October 12, at a 57,600 kilometers distance. Being very small, it is not a danger for us: only 12-27 meters in diameter.
The next three will be on December 3, February 24, 2018 and April 2, 2018 .
Ron Baalke says these are just the asteroids already discovered by NASA and that it is always possible to appear another dangerous one, which astronomers have not been able to observe until now.
This really happened in January, when a bus-sized asteroid passed near Earth at a shorter distance than the Moon, and was noticed very late.
