Did Someone Hacked Voyager 2?
Voyager 2 spacecraft has stopped its functions and no one knows what happened.
Launched on August 20, 1977, Voyager 2 it’s more than three decades into its journey to the deep space. In april 2010, when the spacecraft was ready to leave our Solar System and go inside the interstellar space, something strange happened.
10 billions miles away from the Earth, Voyager 2 sent back a data which cannot be understood. NASA pretends that someone hacked it from the ground, but skeptics are thinking beyond our planet.
Communication system has suddenly stoped working, creating a malfunction inside of the binary code. By changing a single byte, flipping will cause a temporary or even permanent shut down of the system.
As you know, Voyager 2 carries on board the Golden Record, a map that shows were is our position in the universe. It also has a welcome message for potential aliens.
Even it happened in 2010, scientists still don’t know what caused this malfunction and they are still working on it.
“It seems almost as if someone has reprogrammed or hijacked the probe – thus perhaps we do not yet know the whole truth,” Hausdorf told the German Newspaper Bild.
A cause can be a cosmic ray – high-energy particles from interstellar space – might have been responsible for it. According to an extensive IBM study on the subject, computers on Earth experience one cosmic-ray-induced error per 256 megabytes of RAM per month.
